政壇：被譏「賣小說」 桑德斯反擊
美國民主黨總統參選人、佛蒙特州參議員桑德斯，一向政治立場左傾。《華盛頓郵報》日前批評桑德斯只懂說選民想聽的話，如同在「賣小說」，毫不現實。桑德斯也不甘示弱，諷刺《華郵》曾支持前總統喬治．布殊出兵攻打伊拉克，簡直是「天才」。

《華郵》在其社論中提到：「桑德斯不是個敢於說真話的人，他只是在向支持者售賣自己的小說。（Mr. Sanders is not a brave truth-teller. He is a politician selling his own brand of fiction to a slice of the country that eagerly wants to buy it.）」
桑德斯其後接受彭博社訪問時開火還擊：「請大家回到《華郵》看看，找出那些曾經支持入侵伊拉克的天才在哪裏吧。（Getting back to The Washington Post, check out where all the geniuses on the editorial page were with regard to the invasion of Iraq.）」
