政壇如職場，現時都講求男女平等。英國首相卡梅倫日前出席一個關於增加國會女議員人數的活動上，批評男性在政壇上，通常都自以為才華橫溢，但實際上並非好過女性很多。相反，他認為女性在政壇上有點兒保守，只會質疑自己有沒有時間及能力做好呢份工。

卡梅倫表示，當他問一些男黨員是否願意參選成為議員時，對方通常都感到出奇。他說：「他們多數會說當然無問題，而這種態度令人想到他們對此感到十分驚奇，猶如我從來沒有問他們一樣。（They tend to say well yes of course in a manner which suggests they are amazed I haven't asked them before.）」

不過，卡梅倫指以同一條問題問女黨員，答案就非常不同。他稱對方多數會回答「我非常忙碌，我非常努力工作，但我不知道我能否付出如此多的時間。（I'm incredibly busy, I work incredibly hard I'm not sure I would be able to give it the huge amount of hours it justifies.）」
