不論最後有沒有成果，男人追求理想的志氣是動人的。如美國哲人愛默生說：「志氣吸引我們，因為它表現了一個人能愛他的意念多於世上的一切，他想的並非高床軟枕、並非晚餐、並非金錢，但會不惜一切去把那個未呈現的想法創造成形。」*

開車上紅棉道經過聖約瑟中學，會看到該校偶爾會把舊生高錕與全校師生的大相高掛在校舍外；也許能成為高錕的新一代校友，深深受這位「光纖之父」的啟發，明白成功必須排除萬難。
